-          PROGRAMME AND PREPARATION


 
The Conference was held on the 11 and 12 of September 2001 at the Finnish and the Estonian Parliament. The Conference was prepared through three Newsletters and a Briefing paper on eEurope.
 

-          REPORT ABOUT THE CONFERENCE


 
The two days Conference took place at the Finnish Parliament (11 September-morning and 12 September-morning) and the Estonian Parliament (11 September-afternoon). During these two day sessions, the participants gave presentations as to their national Parliaments IT developments and they all expressed their opinions at the open debate, which was based on three themes: a) How Parliaments can use ICT to legislate more effectively, b) How can Parliaments use ICT to increase their control over Governments, and c) How can Parliaments use ICT to communicate more effectively with their citizens.
 

-          RESULTS


 
The Conference gave orientations and best practices for the ICT implementation at National Parliaments. Its outcome was reported during the last session of the Telework Conference in Helsinki (12-14 September 2001) and the eGovernment Conference in Brussels (29-30 November 2001). For the last one, the delegates have signed a ‘Statement’, at the end of the EPRI Conference.
 
The EPRI Office has prepared two documents with additional information on the National Parliaments’ ICT Infrastructure. One is the Report on National Parliaments’ ICT Infrastructure and latest developments’ and the second one is a Comparative Table on National Parliaments’ ICT Infrastructure’, which summarizes the results of the report.
